• I’m just diving into Dr Sara Gottfrieds new book and couldn’t wait to write something about it. It’s yet another evolution of her work and thinking as she uncovers the mysteries of women’s bodies - peri menopause and beyond! The brain body connection is like a magic key that we’ve all been looking for. As a post menopausal woman I’m managing all the changes pretty well but still not where I’d like to be. My body is so different to how it was in my 30s and 40s. Dr Sara is giving us the pathway to truly get our body and mind back and reset. This book gives us all the science and the protocols to achieve our dreams and protect us from the dreaded aging diseases of dimentia and the like. I can’t wait to finish it and start the protocol. Would highly recommend reading if you are trying to navigate your way through peri menopause and beyond.
• Filled with lots information, takes a long time to get to the point, wish there was a section where you could just get the “what to eat and do” (it could be in there but there is over 300 pages to go through to find it) and go back and read the ”science behind it” when and if you wanted to. I really want to give this a try but I am losing interest while trying to find the parts of what to really do.
• Dr Sara is on the leading edge of women's health and Brain Body Diet takes us farther into understanding what it takes to be truly healthy in body, mind and spirit. She writes extensively on clearing out toxins from the brain and how to reset our body weight set point. This gives me so much hope that I'm not destined to become a fat old matron as the years pass.
  Dr Gottfried is an inspired researcher and makes the science behind her protocol understandable. And the footnotes - hundreds of them if you lean in that direction. -)
  I'm a big fan and will continue to be. And I'm going to start a book club for this book so that some friends and I can be on this 40-day (and beyond) journey together.
• Dr. Sara Gottfried delivers another home run! This book had me captivated to learn more about the connection of the Brain with the Body. As I'm aging, I'm eager to gain a deeper understanding of steps that I can take on my own to improve my health. This book will continue to be a source of reference for me through the years by stuffing it with notes and post-it tags! Thank you, Dr. Sara Gottfried, for making women's health important to the individual and sharing ways that we can take our health into our own hands!
• Who better than Dr. Sara Gottfried to help us better understand our struggles, especially as we all age. There are so many connections between our brains and body that we need to comprehend. Beyond providing the most up to date information and insights, Dr. Gottfried gives us a scientifically backed 40 day protocol that we all can do, and must do. Each day we're overwhelmed not only with life struggles, but in reading and deciphering the conflicting health, diet and medical information behind what steps we can effectively take on our own to fight weight gain, our set point, Alzheimer's and dimentia, stress and burnout. • This book has loads of terrific information, but I was dismayed by the title... I think people who might otherwise read (and love) it will bypass it as “just another diet book.” It’s SO not that... it’s more a way of life... or it should be, if you want to get healthy and stay that way.
• If you are tired of trying to lose weight, get hormones in balance, or cope with anxiety or depression, Dr. Sara Gottfried’s new book has answers. She is the foremost authority on all things related to women’s health. I believe this is her best book -- and I give it my highest recommendation.

  I empathized with Aida who endured the unimaginable and survived.
  
  The House on Mango Street changed Aida Hernandez's life. In her darkest hours, she remembered the words of hope "I have gone a long way to come back."
  
  Aida wanted to dance. She wanted to finish high school and go to college. She wanted to become a therapist. She wanted to give her son a good home. She wanted to love and be loved. Her hopes were just like yours and mine.
  
  But Aida's life held more horrors than any one body should be able to endure. She had survived even death but suffered from crippling CPTSD--Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. • Sad, timely, and the sort of book that could help people understand the humans behind the pictures on tv. Aida's life should not have gone the way it does but she's a determined woman. Coming from nothing, she built a life and then had it yanked from under her. She never gives up on her dream. The idea that making it hard will stop people from coming is inane. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. More power to Aida and those like her.

• Brill’s is one of a gazillion recent books that addresses the question, what happened to America? That it’s broken, we all know, even if we don’t always admit it to ourselves.
  
  This book, however, really is different. Brill is one of the few authors who has the legal and financial expertise to really get it right. And that he does. The problem is not social, political, racial, or patriarchal (although the latter two are real problems that must be addressed). The problem is economic. In short, the new American aristocracy are the wealthy who continue to elevate themselves above the rest of society financially and who have successfully dug moats around themselves and their children to protect their elite status.
  
  It is, in my own words, the commercialization of America. The wealthy in America have successfully constructed a false meritocracy where ‘merit without means’ has grown increasingly difficult. Class mobility, as a result, has declined and fewer and fewer of our youth can expect to live better than their parents.
  
  It’s the universal law of unintended consequences. We replaced the old-boy, inherited wealth aristocracy with a true meritocracy. The meritorious among us, however, used their newfound mobility to create a world where class mobility has been commercialized. The children of the already wealthy, as a result, who have access to private schools, tutors, SAT prep classes, violin lessons, and the latest technology, have a material advantage in climbing their own ladder of merit.
  
  What distinguishes Brill’s book is that he works harder than most authors on providing solutions, or at least finding and revealing people and institutions who have already made a difference (no, not Trump) and who offer a template for moving forward.
  
  Brill is informed across a wide spectrum of topics. He is, first and foremost, however, a journalist and it shows. The prose is easy to read but always backed up with plenty of data. At times, perhaps, just a tad too much. But that’s okay. He, more than most, makes it clear why we are all so disillusioned.
  
  This book will make you mad. And it should. Our politicians are dialing for dollars while Washington burns. And Brill has the connections and the writing skills to bring the heat into your living room.
  
  A very good book that no one will want to pick up a second time. But that’s okay. Sometimes we need a good whack to make sure we’re still awake.
• By the time they reach the end of this excellent book, readers may wonder that anything is still working in America for anyone other than the well-educated, the well-connected, and those wealthy enough to retreat to their financial and gated enclaves. (For examples, read the real estate section of the Friday edition of the Wall Street Journal.) After cataloging the depressing and interlocking shortcomings of American society over the last 50 years, Brill is still optimistic about the future, and includes many examples of people taking personal responsibility to foster the fading common good. Those who are more pessimistic than the author will recall that it took a vestigial socialist tradition, a Great Depression, and the Second World War to move America away from earlier tailspins. More recently, the organized opposition of millions of Americans to the Vietnam war failed to end that senseless conflict. Today millions of people are shocked by the level of gun violence in our country, but cannot organize around this issue to effect real change. I applaud the efforts of Brill and the many people who are challenging the system with real alternatives, but I fear that it will take a seismic cataclysm to relieve the present persistent nightmare.
• A fantastic account of every court battle, regulation, and congressional act since the 50s that's lead America to where it is today; the country with the most most wealth inequality in the developed world. Reading this, it's clear how my generation of millenials was left with nothing but the scraps of a dying nation.
• In this extensively researched book, Steve Brill concludes that “the country has gone into a tailspin since the post-war era” with, among other things, increased income inequality, a deteriorating infrastructure, a high poverty rate, mediocre health care and student achievement and a dysfunctional and money corrupted Congress. He then goes into great detail to describe how this has come about and what some people are trying to do about it.
  
  One of his key findings is that meritocracy has become the new aristocracy. In other words, top students from the top law schools began to enjoy enormous incomes by working with big businesses to generate favorable legislation and regulations and devise ways to work around tax and other laws.
  
  Brill devotes several pages to what he calls the Greening of the First Amendment which has enabled businesses to spend considerable money in political campaign and requires legislators to spend substantial time raising campaign funds. He describes instances where the enormous amount spent on lobbying has prevented appropriate regulation and legislation.
  
  Brill laments that businesses that have been found to be serious law breakers are able to get by with fines that for many are just considered a cost of doing business while no action is taken against the executives who authorized or were aware of the unlawful activities.
  
  Overall, I found most of Brill’s comments to be appropriate.
  
  Brill notes organizations trying to change things for the better, including the Bipartisan Policy Center, Better Markets, Open Secrets and Peter Edelman with Georgetown’s poverty and inequality center.
  
  Brill ends with surprising optimism. “Things may get worse before they get better,” he says. But “Americans …are going to decide enough is enough.”
• Steven Brill is a brilliant man & a superb writer - I have read everything he has written. I like to get up early & read when it is nice & quiet, but I must say this book was difficult to read more than a chapter at a time because it is so depressing. It set the tone for my day as negative. Brill delineates the greed & corruption of our congress & the business world. His facts are true & that makes it all the more disheartening. And most disheartening of all is that the only hope he provides are in the last 3 pages of the book! How I wish it was not so.

• This book takes you into the presence of Jesus and the disciples as they prepare and celebrate their last night together. It's an intimate look at how much Jesus loved his friends, how much he loves us all. Tomorrow is Holy Thursday and I am humbled to receive Jesus into my heart. I have reread chapter 6 many times letting His love fall on me. I'm sure I will enjoy parts 2 & 3 after Easter. There are no coincidences, this book chose me. Thank you Monsignor Vaghi.
• Very thoughtful and thought-provoking look at the key moments for founding the early church. I read it during Holy Week (fortuitous timing, given the subject) and found it a wonderful starting point for mediation on how the events in the upper room inform God's personal call to me to go out and live my faith. This will be a great one to go back to again and again.
• This book is more of a basic or beginner theology text. I felt like I only learned a couple of new bits of information. It is well written however and maybe perfect as an introductory read to the significance of the events that took place in the upper room and how it can be relevant personally.
• This book brought me back to an early memory of myself as a young child on vacation at Mass, daydreaming of the beach most likely, and upon hearing the words Apostolic church in the creed, told my Mom we were in the wrong church! Obviously, I was too young to know the meaning of apostolic, but to read Monsignor Vaghi's book is to fully understand and appreciate the apostolic underpinnings of the Catholic Church. This book is an exciting account of the events which took place in the upper room. The recent change in the Mass's pre-communion prayer, "worthy of your entering under my roof", now makes more sense to me.
• I began reading this book just before I visited the Upper Room. It definitely enhanced my appreciation of that visit. But, beyond that, it has inspired me with a perspective that I intend to carry forward in my daily life.
• I thought it was a dvd. Did not want a cd.
• a bit disappointing; maybe I expected too much.
• This was an excellent book! I learned things I didn't realize happened in the Upper Room while renewing a stronger faith. It was interesting and easy to read.

• There are NO tarot images to color in this book. You have to draw your own. From the reviews I read, I feel misled. There are no pages to view in the product description.
• I wasn't sure what to expect with the Tarot Journal, but the description of the item sounded like the type of book I was looking for. I'm new to Tarot and I have various books, but I need something practical and easier to help me take in and retain all this new information. I'll admit that the thing I like the least about it is the font choice on the cover, but I was relieved to find that font is not used throughout the book. I don't really have an interest in the coloring pages for the sake of coloring, but I wanted something with plenty of room to write in. That's exactly what the Journal offers. It's much thicker than I expected too! There are not page numbers, but the book is a good inch thick with pages that are made of good quality paper. Whatever your goal is, this is a good book to make your own. I'm excited to work with it!
• This is an awesome book! Plenty of room to record your spreads, oodles of helpful info, really cute Amy style layout, dot grids to write straight or make graphs, quick references to universal card readings. I love it! The shipper however was not careful. 1 book came with the front cover severely bent and creased and the other book has a whole section in the back that came out.
• I LOVE THIS BOOK! It's true that it teaches about tarot in a swift and easy way, as well as putting the weight on OUR OWN INTUITION, where it should go! But besides that, the drawings are SO FUN and the cover is BEAUTIFUL!!! I bought plastic at Joann's fabrics and have covered it to protect it because it's just too beautiful to leave unprotected. If you are doubting the purchase, do NOT, you'll be thrilled, it's so much more than what I had expected!
