- Let's be clear - my definition of broke ass is vastly different than the author's, by like 13,000 dollars or so, second it's stuff I already know thanks to the phenomenal ability to Google "cheap weddings" or whatever I googled - I actually found Google to be more useful (somewhere out there is a list on how to have a wedding for under $1000) . It's funny in the way an intro paragraph to a paper saying "buckle up bitchs I'm about to teach you a thing I learned at four am" is funny - and about as insightful as in would expect from such a paper. Look if you're overwhelmed it (like any other wedding planning book/app/guide) will give you a starting place
- I'm not a traditional bride and this did have some good ideas on how to save money but it seemed to be more focused on a white wedding than something outside the box. The budgets start at 10k (lowest in that category was 7k) and that is not a broke ass bride. That's a bride who has some money to spend. My entire wedding is budgeted to be about 5k and its formal, that is a broke ass bride.
- Nice book for those who aren't broke, but are looking to save a few bucks on Marriage. When I think broke, I'm trying to get under $10k.
- I'm still using this book right now, planning my wedding in September 2016 on a budget and I can't believe how many amazing ideas I have already used. The previous rave reviews that I read were absolutely correct. One example of a great idea that I never even heard of but is gaining popularity is forgoing the expensive photo booth and setting up a selfie station! Have already made my own backdrop and used this past Halloween to buy props on clearance. Love this book!
- Funny, witty, sharp and helpful! No silly rules, just excellent suggestions and resources, designed to get you the wedding of YOUR dreams. Sort of like having a fashion stylist curate your wardrobe for you, Dana LaRue provides creative solutions that do not all include "fewer guests" and "DIY" (like none of us ever thought of that!).
I highly recommend it. - Great book. Tons of ideas for a thrifty wedding that doesn't look cheap. I bought a lot of wedding planning books and this is the one that I actually use.
